How We Calculate the Destiny Matrix: VIDOMO Formulas and Their Limits

VIDOMO calculates the matrix using the classical 22 Arcana system: three base points (A, B, C) are derived from the birth date, which then yield D and the center E, while all remaining positions are found by adding and reducing numbers to the 1–22 range. Below are all the formulas illustrated with the example date 15.07.1991—using numbers taken directly from the calculator—along with a transparent breakdown of what is classical, what is our own addition, and what the chart cannot do.

The Rule of Reduction to 22

If a number is greater than 22, we add its digits together and repeat until the result is 22 or less. Examples: 29 → 2 + 9 = 11; 42 → 4 + 2 = 6; 1991 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 1 = 20. Numbers from 1 to 22 remain unchanged, so 22 stays Arcanum 22. There is no zero among the Arcana. The numbering follows the Tarot de Marseille tradition: 8 is Justice, 11 is Strength, and 22 is The Fool. In some decks, 8 and 11 swap titles, which is one reason different services give different interpretations for the same number.

Base Points: A, B, C, D, E

Everything starts with the three numbers of the birth date. All other points are sums derived from them.

Derived Positions

Each subsequent position is the sum of two already known points, reduced to 1–22.

Age Map: 64 Periods of 1.25 Years

The perimeter of the matrix is read clockwise: A (0 years) → F (10) → B (20) → G (30) → C (40) → I (50) → D (60) → H (70) → A (80). Between the corners of each segment, seven intermediate points are placed via binary subdivision: first the sum of the two corners, then the sums of adjacent points, resulting in 8 periods of 1.25 years across each 10-year span. For 15.07.1991, the first segment A → F looks like this:

0 yr — 15 · 1,25 yr — 22 · 2,5 yr — 7 · 3,75 yr — 17 · 5 yr — 10 · 6,25 yr — 15 · 7,5 yr — 5 · 8,75 yr — 9 · 10 yr — 22

Couple Matrix

For two birth dates, we add the partners’ corresponding base points and then build the chart using the exact same rules. Adding all already-calculated positions of two complete matrices is a different algorithm. Example: 15.07.1991 and 23.11.1990.

What Is Unique to VIDOMO vs. Classical

Three elements are our own layers built on top of the chart, and we do not present them as traditional canon.

Personal year arcana

Day of birth (without prior reduction) + month + sum of digits of the selected calendar year, reduced to 1–22. For July 15 and the year 2026: 15 + 7 + 10 = 32 → 5 (5 The Hierophant). The birth year is not used in this formula, so people born on the same day and month share the same Yearly Arcanum.

Arcana of the day

Because the classical chart does not divide time into intervals smaller than 1.25 years, the Daily Arcanum is a derived layer. The universal energy of the day is the same for everyone: the sum of the date’s digits. For 16.10.2026, this is 18 → 18 (18 The Moon). Personal Daily Arcanum: day and month of birth plus the digits of the date: 15 + 7 + 18 = 40 → 4 (4 The Emperor).

Compatibility Percentage

There is no canonical percentage formula, so we designed a transparent scale where every number can be explained in plain words. The “closeness” of two Arcana is 1 minus their distance around a 22-point circle divided by 11 (the distance between 22 and 1 is the same as between 1 and 2). The overall score is a weighted average of the four sub-scales shown beneath the percentage. The result does not depend on which partner is entered first.

ScaleWeightWhat it consists of15.07.1991 + 23.11.1990
Attraction30%closeness of both partners’ point A (40%) and of each A to the couple’s love point (30% each)36%
Daily Life20%closeness of “Earth” A + C (60%) and of point C (40%)85%
Shared Purpose30%closeness of personal purposes (50%) and the stronger match between the couple’s shared purpose and either partner’s purpose (50%)50%
Ease in Conflicts20%the more karmic points of one partner fall on the core A, B, E points of the other, the lower the score; never below 30100%
Total100%0.3·Attraction + 0.2·Daily Life + 0.3·Shared Purpose + 0.2·Ease63% — Strong Match

In practice, the score ranges between 30% and 95%: “0% compatibility” would sound like a verdict the chart has no right to issue, while “100%” would promise something that does not exist in real life.

What the Method Does Not Do

The Destiny Matrix is a symbolic system for self-reflection, not a science. Its arithmetic is reproducible, but the interpretation of numbers has no scientific backing: it does not predict events, make diagnoses, or replace a doctor, psychologist, or lawyer. The origin of the system is generally attributed to Natalia Ladini (2006); we build upon this classical version, though we do not claim to have audited primary historical sources or undergone independent peer review. That is precisely why we publish our formulas—so anyone can verify the numbers without taking our word for it. Read also is what they write about the destiny matrix true.

Questions about methodology

Why do other calculators give different numbers?
Different services may use different points, a different order of addition, or a different Arcana numbering system (in some decks, 8 and 11 are swapped). Compare the rules rather than just the final output: on VIDOMO, all rules are openly documented on this page.
Why does 22 not reduce to 4?
In this method, the 1–22 range corresponds to the 22 Major Arcana, so the number 22 remains Arcanum 22 (The Fool). We only reduce numbers greater than 22 by adding their digits until the result is 22 or less. There is no zero among the Arcana.
Was the accuracy of the compatibility percentage tested?
No. There is no canonical percentage formula in the method, so this is VIDOMO’s own scale built on top of the couple’s shared points. It has not been validated by empirical studies, does not predict the duration or happiness of a relationship, and never displays 0% or 100%.
Is the day arcana present in the classical scheme?
No. The classical chart includes the birth day point and an age scale in 1.25-year increments. The Daily Arcanum is a derived VIDOMO layer constructed using the same arithmetic as the Yearly Arcanum.
Can I verify the calculation myself?
Yes. Everything comes down to simple addition and reduction to 22. A step-by-step manual calculation is explained in a dedicated article, and you can compare your result with the calculator on the home page.
